Siding is finished - more details for the interior - -

Here's the back of the house with all of the siding. It will be painted within the week. What color do you think it will be? There may be a big prize! Ha! Tammi, you are disqualified since you snooped yesterday!

The sreening for the porch will be done at the very end to avoid any damage. There will be a door from the porch onto the deck that will be outside the slider doors and the deck will have steps down to a concrete patio. The all important hot tub will be set on the patio making it lower so as to not block views of the woods.

Our feathered friend is back. His owner, Jim is in charge of finish woodworking. He will be making the built-in shelving for the arched area in the family room. I need to let him know some of my preferences very soon. Mmmm, should I leave space for a really big TV? Ha!

But - wait - there's more - - -

The siding is going up, the gray color is the primer. It will be painted on site and supposedly not need repainting for 15/20 years!

The siding is made of a fiber/cement product. Much stronger than typical vinyl siding and also a much Greener choice. The brand below is made with 50% recycled product in the form of flyash.

Below, the stone work is almost complete.

Most of the drywall "mudding" and sanding is complete.

The guest bath is in. The place is starting to look like a real house. Now, when will be the completion date? I'm doing lots of deep breathing and trying to stay mellow! Ahmmmm- - -

Let's get stoned!

Na, I don't do that! But, I sure like these stones on the front of my house. They will be on the two sections that are forward. The dining room and here, the master bath area. I was happy to see that it will also wrap around the sides of the porch. The picture below was at the end of the day, 8:00 pm. The next one down was around noon. They are setting each stone individually, much like a puzzle. So, very slow and painstaking. The guys are amazing, cutting stones to fit just right in each space. It's called, "stacked stone". The mortar is on the back of each piece, but nothing in between as is done with bricks.

Nice design. I'm keeping my mouth shut and taking what they create!
Here's the box of random stones.

Drywall in a day!

Well, almost. The drywall guys got everything finished except the tallest ceiling in the family room. They will be back in the morning to put up scaffolding and finish that.

Below is the garage - can you imagine walking around and working on those stilts all day? When I came back that evening, the rest of the walls were covered. I think they stayed until 8:00 pm!

The pic below is the dining room ceiling. It was dark by then and I had to use the flash on my camera to see what it looked like. It's called a "tray" ceiling. Mmmm, I wonder how I should paint it. All one color or different shades? Any thoughts?
