Framing almost done . . .
It was so cool to drive around the corner and see the "big" wall up. That's the raised ceiling height in the family room. I'd almost forgot about it after looking at flat drawings all these months.
Here's the front porch and front door - - come on in!
Here's the second and third bedrooms. The one on the left will be my sewing/crafts room. The one on the right will be the guest room with it's own door to the bathroom in between the two rooms. Notice the nice double windows for lots of natural light, and the guest room has windows on the side too. Maybe I'll need to get sun blocking blinds so you can sleep! Na - - wake up and party!

Framing going up - - June 25th
They started working on the framing today, friday the 25th. This is the outside wall of the guest bedroom.
Here's the master bedroom outside wall going up. So exciting to watch!
There are bolts all around that will allow the frame to be bolted in. I think that has something to do with hurricane code. Help!

Corn Field?
Hey, I know I moved south, but are these guys fixin' to plant corn out my back door? Actually they came in this morning and smoothed out the whole area so the next group of workers can get in and out without fallin' in a hole or tripping on trash. Those 6 cement trucks yesterday made some pretty deep ruts.
Also, it will be a better view for my neighbors. They have been very friendly and tolerant of the noise. Of course, they built their houses just recently, so they know the drill. The people to the right have twin high school girls that Tyler knows and a younger daughter that Willow knows. The couple to the left just had a baby girl. I'll have to have them all over for a BBQ!
Speaking of trash, the dumpster arrived too. The builder said there would be as little waste as possible. -- One of my "green" requests. Of course it also saves him contruction costs. We'll see. Also the pallets of 2x4s and 2x6s where delivered today. Tomorrow should be interesting!

Later that day - - -
The slab is done and dry already. I'm able to walk on it, yea! It was soooo hot today the concrete set up pretty quickly. Heat index was 105 - yuck - I don't know how the workers survived. Wimpy me had to go home and take a cool shower, my face was beat red from the heat and I was just watching! Below is the view from the corner of my bedroom. The step down part is for a screened in porch off the kitchen. I hope we have some good times out there, bring pot luck! The area behind the porch is the garage and the studio is to the far left.
Below is the completed garage with the ramp and studio behind. The ramp seems a little steep, but I guess it's the best they could do with the back door right there.

I'm learning to do mosaics with broken pieces of pottery in my new pottery class. I thought I'd add that to the floor in the studio. The cement was getting hard and I had to lean over the wall and do it backwards all while trying to stay out of the way of the workers! It's suppose to be a bird (dove), but it's more like a fish. Mmmm maybe I was meant to do an Eisher thing, ya know bird morphing into a fish - ha! Heather, the 2 lighter pieces in the middle are from one of your favorite bowls that broke. Do you recognize the glaze? It's one of those pre-made ones that I'll NEVER have again! I'll make you a mosaic out of the rest of the pieces.

Good, good, good - good vibrations!
I made this little pinch pot on Earth Day 2010. The sea shell print is from a shell I picked up while walking the beach in South Carolina.
Wouldn't it be cool to have it under the foundation of my house forever? Good vibrations as the old song goes!
It's in the foyer area just inside the front door. Tammi says everyone who enters will be greeted with my "spirit"! What will the archaeologists
think when they dig it up millions of years from now?

Hot and Cold Running Water!
Well, almost! The plumber has completed the "rough in" part that will be under the concrete slab. Sure hope nothing ever breaks under there! The pic below is the guest bathroom. So, come on over! The bigger circle is for the shower/tub, the smaller one for the toilet, and the colored pipes sticking out are for incoming water. Red for hot and blue for cold - what a concept! Ha!

All the pipes sticking out are for water - sinks/washing machine/shower.
